Dr. Horwitz completed his undergraduate training at Duke University where he obtained a BA in religion. He then attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis and completed his orthopaedic training at New York Orthopaedic Hospital at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He completed a trauma fellowship at the University of Utah and was faculty there from 1996 until 2011. In 2011 Dr. Horwitz accepted the position of Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma for Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania. He currently coordinates care at multiple community hospitals, two Level II trauma centers and the flagship Level I trauma center for Geisinger Health System.

Dr. Horwitz has published on a broad range of topics ranging from complex hip fractures to economic and medical legal issues related to Orthopaedic trauma. His expertise focuses on complex pelvic, acetabular, hip, and intra-articular injuries with a particular emphasis on complications and post-operative failures.
